Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to offer condolences on the death of Iranian President, during which they expressed their commitment to uphold the vision of the late President Ibrahim Raisi.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed condolences on the demise of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi and his companions in a helicopter crash. On this occasion, both leaders expressed their commitment to continue the vision of the late president for bilateral cooperation.
Shehbaz Sharif said that President Ibrahim Raisi was a visionary leader who demonstrated steadfastness for the service of his country and people. Remembering his visit to Pakistan in April 2024, the Prime Minister highlighted his role in strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations.
The Prime Minister stated that they would uphold the vision of the late Iranian President to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations and enhance bilateral trade.
He said that at this delicate juncture in history, they stand in solidarity with their Iranian brothers and sisters and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen friendship and brotherly relations with the brotherly country of Iran, both with the government and the people.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also invited Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei to visit Pakistan. During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Commerce Minister Jamal Khan, and Federal Information Minister Ataullah Tarar were also present with the Prime Minister.
