UK Drops Assault Case Against Nawaz Sharif’s Guard Who Spat on a Woman

London: The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has decided to drop the criminal case of common assault against Farid Nemouchi, a former close-protection bodyguard of ex-Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The case, which garnered significant attention, stemmed from an incident involving spitting on Panzani Cheema, a senior executive in the financial sector in London.

According to media reports, Nawaz Sharif’s guard, Farid Nemouchi, appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court with his lawyer, Barrister Moin Khan, and stated that Panzani Cheema had knocked on Nawaz Sharif’s car window and asked, “I’ve heard you are one of Pakistan’s most corrupt politicians?” In anger, I spat and accelerated the car forward.

The prosecution informed the court that it would not pursue the case, citing that the evidence did not meet the threshold for a realistic prospect of success.

It is noted that in April, CPS had decided to prosecute Fareed Nemochee for allegedly spitting on banker Pansani Chema, considering spitting on someone’s face as an extremely serious crime in the UK.

Pansani Chema had reported the incident of spitting as physical and mental abuse to the police. The incident of spitting on Pansani Chema occurred on September 16 last year when Nawaz Sharif was leaving his office when Panzani Cheema, a Brunei-British national, encountered Nemouchi while he was driving Nawaz Sharif. Allegations arose that Nemouchi spat on Cheema after she approached Sharif’s vehicle and made critical remarks about the former Pakistani politician.
