Tehran: Iranian authorities have successfully defused 30 time bombs simultaneously in Tehran and apprehended 28 individuals affiliated with ISIS.
The country’s Ministry of Intelligence has revealed that some of the detained individuals have connections with ISIS and a history of affiliations with extremist groups in various regions, including Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Previously, ISIS had claimed responsibility for several attacks in Iran, notably targeting the country’s parliament and the mausoleum of the nation’s founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, in dual bombings in 2017.
Recently, ISIS claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on a Shia shrine in October last year, which resulted in the deaths of 15 people in the southwestern city of Shiraz.
