Canberra: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has gotten engaged to his 45-year-old longtime Partner Jodie Haydon.
According to international media reports, the meeting between 60-year-old Albanese and 45-year-old Haydon first took place in 2020 at a business dinner in Melbourne.
The Prime Minister proposed to Haydon on Valentine’s Day at the Lodge, the official residence of the Prime Minister in Canberra, presenting her with a specially designed ring on Valentine’s Day.
Anthony Albanese is the first Australian Prime Minister to get engaged while in office. Albanese shared the news on social media with a selfie and mentioned in the caption “She [Haydon] said yes.”
According to sources, the couple later issued a joint statement expressing their excitement and happiness to share the news and look forward to spending the rest of their lives together. Congratulations were also extended to the couple by members of the Australian Parliament.
On the other hand, Foreign Minister Penny Wong commented, “Love is a beautiful thing. I’m so happy for you both!.”
