Peshawar: At least 12 Afghan National Army and Nato officials were killed and two Pakistani officials were injured during a clash in South Waziristan tribal region near Afghan border, sources said on Wednesday.
The sources said that the clash began when the Afghan and Nato forces crossed into Pakistani territory and opened fire; resultantly Pakistani officials repulsed the attack killing 12 rival soldiers,however it was yet no clear how many Nato soldiers were among the dead.
They said that Angooradda Bazaar near Afghan border was closed following the clash between the forces.
Two Frontier Constabulary (FC) officials received bullet injures in the battle, they added.
The sources said that more than 50 shops caught fire and turned into ashes when mortar shells fired by the Afghan National Army hit them while five people also received injuries in the attack.
No official statement has been issued form both the sides regarding the episode.
