Lahore: Babar Azam stated that there are no individual decisions being made, with seven selectors involved, all decisions are made collectively.
During a press conference in Lahore Babar Azam stated “Our sole focus is on winning the World Cup,”. The captain of the Pakistan cricket team said, ” Last time we couldn’t win the trophy, but this time I believe we will bring it home,”. He emphasized that the team’s priority always comes first and that the best decision for the team would be made. Babar Azam also added that this isn’t just about him, Rizwan, Saim, or Fakhar’s top order.
Babar Azam mentioned that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is very supportive, and Gary Kirsten is very experienced. “Gary Kirsten is already taking an interest in team affairs,” he added.
He noted that they would plan according to the conditions in New York, considering Virat Kohli as a formidable player. “Not just against India, but we will go with the best combination in all matches,” he asserted.
Babar continued, “Aamir Jamal will need some time, the more he plays, the more he will learn. Aamir Jamal has performed in T20 cricket. In Ireland and England, we aim to deploy the World Cup squad; there is little time for rotation, so we will play those we are planning for the World Cup.”
The national team captain also said that Mohammad Haris is a top-order player, and there are many players in the top order. “Mohammad Haris got a chance in PSL but could not perform as expected. Hasan Ali is there as a backup, and this has been clarified by the selectors. Hasan Ali is an experienced bowler.”
