Lahore: A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday reserved its verdict on the petitions challenging President Asif Ali Zardari’s dual office.
Engineer Ghulam Jilani and Advocate Asif Mehmood Khan had moved the petitions.
The court reserved its verdict after petitioner’s counsel AK Dogar completed his arguments.
Dogar had stated that the constitution required the president being head of the state to maintain a neutral and non-partisan posture.
It had further stated that Zardari being the PPP co-chairperson served party interests along with being the president which was in direct violation of the Constitution. The petitioner also said that holding two offices was a violation of Article 41(1) of the Constitution.
