PTI Imran Khan announces civil disobedience movement in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Chief Imran Khan has announced civil disobedience movement in Pakistan, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

“Don’t pay Taxes, Electricity and Gas bills,” PTI chief appealed to the public.

PTI Chairman on Sunday seemingly retreated from his demand of “immediate resignation” of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, instead calling on his supporters to go for a civil disobedience movement for two days and not pay their bills and taxes until Sharif resigns.

Khan warned that unless their demands are not met within 48 hours, he may lose the control on his ‘tsunami’.

The PTI chief said that he could have asked his supporters to storm the Parliament and Prime Minister’s House but then he was apprehensive about the “security of his workers and policemen deployed for security of the Red Zone”.

Khan repeatedly appealed to his supporters to not give up and stay for the sit-in till their demands were met.

The government never collected revenue targets in past several years despite imposing new taxes worth billions of rupees on masses.

Government of Pakistan had set a revenue target of Rs2,810bn includes income tax, sales tax, custom duty and other direct and indirect taxes for the fiscal year 2014-15. The government had collected Rs 1950 billion in fiscal year 2012-13.
