Karachi: Karachi police and intelligence agencies have apprehended two terrorists purportedly connected to India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), averting a major terrorist assault aimed at the city, Korangi Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hasan Sardar announced Monday.
During the operation, law enforcement officials seized two hand grenades, a 9mm pistol, and additional ammunition from the individuals arrested. SSP Sardar disclosed that these suspects were actively involved in reconnaissance of specific targets as directed by foreign entities, transmitting gathered intelligence overseas and receiving substantial payments through foreign bank transfers in return.
The operation sheds light on what Pakistani officials describe as an ongoing pattern of Indian infiltration and subversive activities within Pakistani borders, attributing such actions to RAW, India’s primary foreign intelligence agency.
This year, Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary Syrus Qazi publicly denounced what he called a “sinister” campaign of extraterritorial and extrajudicial actions by India, including the orchestrated killings of Pakistani citizens on their own soil. These claims have been substantiated by international reporting, including an investigative piece by The Guardian, which highlighted alleged directives from the Indian government to execute hostile operations on foreign territories, including in Canada and the U.S.
