MUMBAI: A senior navy officer died while four dockyard workers other were severely injured following a blast in Indian navy war ship ‘INS Kolkata’ in Mumbai on Friday (today).
An Indian Navy officer has been killed in a gas leak on a ship under construction at the Mazagaon dock in Mumbai.
The Commander Rank officer died after a fault in the ship’s carbon dioxide unit caused gas to leak during machinery trials.
A Navy press release said that some other personnel were injured and had been hospitalised.
The warship was one of the most advanced vessels made of India and fitted with state of the art weaponry and sensors.
Last month, two sailors died after an accident on board a submarine, the INS Sindhuratna.
