Is same thing going to happen with Samsung after Galaxy S4, which was happened with Apple after the launch of iPhone 5?
Released last week in United States and worldwide, the new device from Korean tech giant is an instant hit, but there is a problem arising. All the things, features, design, camera, display are great; however, you can’t call them “The Next Big Thing”
So the same problem is going to hit the Apple iPhone 6 and Nokia’s Lumia 928, the next generation smartphones from both the leading players?
One thing has been said consistently after the launch of iPhone 5 last year that Apple needs a breakthrough in smartphone technology now. A technology which could be called revolutionary than evolutionary. Especially in post Galaxy S4 scenario, after all it has a refreshing look and new features as compared to other smartphones, the Apple’s upcoming devices iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 need something extraordinary.
Same is the case with Lumia 920 series. The upcoming Lumia 928 needs a ‘big thing’ in order attract users towards it.
ZDNet’s Jason Perlow has rightly put the scenario as following:
“You expect the rear-facing camera to take high-quality stills and video, you expect a front-facing HD camera for doing video chat, and you expect the device to have a high-resolution screen regardless of size that produces sharp, crisp video and has excellent color saturation and luminosity. And you expect the phone to be 4G LTE capable.
You could see every manufacturer including Sony and HTC are offering the same basic features.
Though there is some ‘innovation’ in Galaxy S4, but yet a lot of things need to be fixed. The users need some real innovation, some real new features other than upgraded display, camera, graphics etc.
And the first mover and the first company which comes with something ‘new’ will be the category leader in future.
