Islamabad: The special branch of Islamabad Police has warned interior ministry of protests against former President Pervez Musharraf on his arrival in the city.
Musharraf, who ended his self-imposed exile and returned Pakistan on March 24, is due in the capital city on March 30.
In a letter written to interior ministry, the police officials said that the law and order situation could worsen in the city as different religious outfits were planning to launch protest against the former president due to his role in the Lal Masjid operation.
Different seminaries including Lal Masjid authorities were also planning to go out on roads in large numbers in Islamabad to protest against the role of Musharraf in the operation.
Meanwhile, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant outfits have threatened to assassinate the former military dictator. The outfit said that that it had launched a death squad comprising of suicide bomber and sharp shooters who will target the former army chief.
