Lahore: A resolution was tabled in Pakistan’s Punjab Assembly on Tuesday demanding seats for eunuchs in National and provincial assemblies of the country.
The resolution tabled by PML-Q legislator Amna Ulfat demanded to allocate seats for the eunuchs in the assemblies of the country.
“Government shall accept the constitutional right of eunuchs and provide opportunity for them to represent themselves in the assemblies,” it said.
Earlier, in its landmark decision, the Supreme Court on September 25, 2012 declared that eunuchs were equally entitled to heritage of moveable and immovable property, jobs and all other rights enjoyed by the common citizens of Pakistan.
An SC bench observed that nobody could deprive the eunuchs of their birthright and they could adopt profession of their choice.
