Lahore: Pakistan’s premier pacer and Islamabad Leopards’ captain Umar Gul was fined his entire match fee for ball tampering in a match against Quetta Bears at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
Gul was fined Rs. 4,000 over allegations of tampering the ball with his mouth in a Group match of Faysal Bank T20.
He was seen with the ball close to his mouth during the ninth over of the innings, the match referee Khateeb Rizwan took notice of the nasty action and charged him under the level-II offence for tampering with the ball.
However, Gul opined that he was just trying to cut off a leading thread off the seam but eventually accepted the punishment and signed the charge notice.
“The laws don’t permit a bowler to even cut off a small piece of thread by his hand and Gul was doing that with his mouth,” an official told Express Tribune.
