Lahore: The Punjab government on Thursday announced that the pillion riding would be banned in the country’s biggest province, Punjab, on 9-10 Muharram (November 24-25), retreating from its earlier announcement by Senior Adviser to CM Punjab Zulfiqar Khan Khosa.
Zulfiqaar Khan Khosa announced on Thursday morning that pillion riding in Punjab will be banned from tomorrow (Friday) morning until the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram.
According to the spokesman of Punjab government, the ban on the pillion riding would be enforced in the province on November 24-25.
“The measure was taken after there were threats that the miscreants might attack Shiite mourners on pillion riding.”
“Security will further be tightened in the most populous province of the country,” he said adding that personnel of Pak Army and Rangers have been sought for sensitive areas of Punjab.
