The usage of digital and social media is increasing day by day in Pakistan due to growing penetration of internet mainly through mobile phones and different gadgets.
Social media will play a different and a powerful role in the political scenario of the country because a majority of the political parties has taken it seriously to start their campaigns of image building and politicking.
Interestingly, multinational and private companies have also found digital media as most interactive tool in order to target audience instead of allocating heavy budgets for advertisements on the traditional mediums of media.
Social and digital media growth popularity among political parties and corporate sector is raising its importance and business scope for international and local publishers, which will benefit the bloggers and independent news sites as well.
Despite the audience is limited at digital media comparatively with traditional media, it has created its own market mainly through independent digital companies.
The digital media companies working for quite a few years are now being merged or acquired by leading traditional media giants to explore the potential of the Pakistani market in the field of online advertisement.
The changing scenario of Pakistan’s digital media sector will strengthen marketing and branding of service and manufacturing companies tend to exploit the new medium in the country.
On the occasion, Shahid Abbasi, web-editor of The News Tribe, said that online edition of local newspapers and broadcast companies will be their strength in future and none in the media world could survive without the presence of online media.
