Islamabad: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the late night attack on a airbase in Kamra in Attock district.
TTP spokesman claimed the responsibility via telephone, local TV channels reported. According to reports, the Taliban spokesman said all the attackers were Pakistani nationals.
As many as nine militant stormed country’s one of the largest airbases in Kamra, killing one security man and partially damaging an aircraft.
Pakistan Air Force said all nine militants had been killed via landmines were being removed through controlled blasts within the premises of the base.
Defense Minister Ahmed Mukhtar said that danger of incursion always persisted in the areas as it was close to a civilian population.
He said that the attack was foiled due to security high alert at the base.
