Govt. Refutes Imran Khan’s Claims of Being Kept in Solitary Confinement, Shows Pics as Evidence

Islamabad: The federal government has presented detailed evidence refuting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s allegations of being kept in solitary confinement during his incarceration at Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.

In a submission to the Supreme Court on Thursday, the government provided photographic proof showcasing the facilities and amenities provided to Imran Khan in his detention. These include an exercise bike, a stretching belt for physical fitness, books, a study table, a kitchen, a special menu, a gallery for walking, an LED, and a room cooler.

The submission, made during the hearing of appeals challenging amendments to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law, also included a list of individuals who have visited Khan in prison thus far.

The five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court, chaired by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and comprising Justices Aminuddin, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Athar Minallah, and Hasan Azhar Rizvi, is overseeing the appeals. Imran Khan himself participated in the proceedings via video link from Adiala jail.

It is noteworthy that Imran Khan had challenged the amendments to the NAB law, and a three-member bench of the Supreme Court had earlier invalidated these amendments based on Khan’s petition. The federal government subsequently lodged intra-court appeals against this decision.
