Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has taken suo motu notice of Tuesday press conference of Malik Riaz, in which he levelled serious allegations against the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
According to reports a three-judge bench headed by Justice Shakirullah Jan and comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Tariq Pervez will conduct hearing.
The bench would take up the case for hearing today (Wednesday). Earlier in the morning, the SC sought details of the press briefing held at a local hotel in Islamabad.
The property tycoon on Tuesday hurled several question at the country’s top judge, besides scandalizing the apex court, holding up pocket size Holy Quran.
Riaz accused the CJ of holding dead night meetings with him and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
He also alleged that Arsalan Iftikhar was black mailing his son-in-law. Malik Riaz, while, dubbing Arsalan as “don” said the country’s top court was being run by the CJ’s son.
