Karachi: Some unidentified opened fire outside the office of Geo News situated at I.I.Chundrigar road, Saddar, an area of Karachi, sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said that four men riding on two bikes opened fire outside the Geo office and damaged a sattelite van by throwing a stone on the van.
“It was also reported that the cable wires were also cut-off by unidentified men in the area,” they added.
The sources also revealed that threats were given to cable operators by a political party in order to suspend the telecast of television channels and avoid repairing the broken cable wires.
Police reached the spot after the incident and cordoned off the office.
Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain condemned the incident and demanded to ban the political party involved in the incident.
Hussain further demanded to provide suitable security to the media.
