Peshawar: International Conference of Pakistan-Afghanistan journalists on the topic of “Cross Border: Strengthening Peace and Dialogue” under the Banner of “Mediothic” organization Afghanistan with the support of Foreign Ministry Germany and with the collaboration of Peshawar press club has ended in University of Peshawar (UoP) at Area study center.
Governor Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Barrister Masud kausar was the chief guest of the opening ceremony of the conference accompanied by Vice chancellor UoP Dr. Azmat Hayat Khan.
Eminent journalist from Pakistan especially from KPK and Afghanistan participated in the conference and enlightened the strengthening of peace and dialogues between the two countries.
While talking to the participants Mediothic Afghan representative Hamid Azadi has said that this conference was very necessary for strengthening the peace between the two countries. He further said that we have strong political relationship but also cultural relations which was much stronger than political relations.
Muhammad Daud Wafa, incharge media house ningarhar said that there was complete freedom of speech to the afghan journalists but just theoretically not practically, because there was a lack of information disclosed to the journalists and also some journalists didn’t want to file controversial story due to life threat.
Khalid Khan Kheshgi, senior reporter at an English Daily and Abdul Moeed affiliated with “Mezwag News Agency” Afghanistan presented a brief history of journalism in Pakistan and Afghanistan, respectively.
Senior journalist Shamim Shahid, president Peshawar press club Saif-ul-Islam Saifi, Dean faculty information sciences UoP Dr.Shah Jehan, Bureau-chief BBC Peshawar Rifatullah Orakzai and former PTV producer Ali ImranBangash also participated in the conference.
