Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday said only 100 megawatts electricity was being generated despite billions of rupees were paid to Rental Power Projects (RPPs).
A division bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the suo motu case on Rental Power Policy (RPPS).
The CJ said that nobody was bother about national wealth as it was being wasted.
“Supreme Court will not tolerate wasting national wealth,” the CJ remarked.
The CJ reiterated government had no policy regarding RPPS. He said that the court would not spare those misappropriated the money.
“There has been a criminal negligence, no one should even think that court would spare him after recovering money,” the CJ responded as saying when PEPCO counsel Tariq Raheem said court should cancel the project if it had reservations.
He told the court that no money was paid to Reshman Rental Power Plant as Faisal Saleh Hayat was talking to presumptions.
The CJ observed that the verdict into the case would be given on Friday
