Ahmedabad: Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal has sought the details of expenses that were incurred on Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s recent fast, beginning the confrontation between the two anew.
The governor took this step on the basis of a letter received from Gujarat Janata Party president Guardhan Zdafia, a former minister of Modi government. Zdafia has alleged that government funds were used to meet the expenses of Modi’s fast.
The governor sent a letter to additional chief secretary administration, demanding the details of the process under which the funds were sanctioned for the fast.
There have already been disputes between the chief minister and the governor over different official matters.
Modi has said the Congress wants to topple his government. The Gujarat government has demanded that the central government remove Kamla from the position.
