Karachi: National Bank of Pakistan’s million of rupee property in Deh and Tappo Manghopir District, Karachi has been illegally occupied again by criminal elements despite Sindh High Court ordered police to ensure land’s possession to the bank.
Official sources said that land grabbers are powerful to restrain police to take further action against them in protection of bank’s property though the court instruction to the police for ensuring the property of NBP.
The land grabbers are influential and equipped with weapon to seize the property of NBP again after police intervened to release the land from their possession on the court’s instruction.
They have not regained the control recently over NBP’s land illegally but also attacked brutally on the visiting team of NBP that caused serious bullet injuries to security in-charge Major Nasir, who has been treated at the critical care unit of the hospital.
On August 29, 2011, again about 12 to 15 criminal elements attacked the site with the help of automatic weapons and took control of the security guards, official sources said.
Later the wall’s three side portion was also demolished.
At present the NBP’s property is in illegal possession of land mafia who have forcibly occupied land but local police station has made no effort to vacate the government’s bank land till to date despite of the court’s instruction.
A month earlier, the management of the NBP was informed that nefarious elements were trying to grab its Plot survey No. 136, 137 & 138 measuring 40 acres & 11 ghuntas.
The bank management immediately approached the Manghopir Police Station and with the land documents on June 21, 2011. NBP also gave a reminder on July 06, 2011 to the concerned SHO (Station House Officer) Manghopir Police Station for not taking any concrete action. In this regard a letter was also written to Irfan Bahadur/ SP Anti Encroachment Cell on July 12, 2011.
The land grabbing case was lodged in Sindh High Court vide suit No.959 of 2011 on 20-07-2011. Honorable Sindh High Court ordered concerned SHO of Manghopir Police Station to cooperate with Bank officials to erect the wall at the site. As per court order dated August 04, 2011, a wall was erected for peaceful possession of NBP Property.
NBP took the land’s possession from SHO Manghopir P.S on August 16, 2011 and followed the instruction of SHC and posted a private guard for possible security measures.
