Peshawar: At least 20 militants were killed and several others injured in a clash with Aman Lashkar (pro-government militia in northwestern tribal region of Pakistan, sources said on Saturday.
According to sources, the clash erupted in Masoodzai area of Kurram Agency near Afghan border. The sources said that 15 militia men also sustained injures in the fierce battle.
The dead and injured were shifted to nearby hospital. Pakistan Army set up an Aman Lashkar, armed with heavy weapons to fight with the insurgents after it launched a major offensive in Kurram Agency this month, landing troops, backed by army, paramilitary forces and Pakistan Air Force.
More than two dozen militants have been killed in clashes with the Lashkar since the army launched operation. Several others militants, including key Pakistani Taliban commanders were also killed by the army in the newly launched operation.
Kurram Agecny has long been witnessing sectarian violence. Security experts believe Taliban from South Waziristan Agency have been seeking shelters in the area after army stormed their hideouts.
