Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday directed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to continue working until the passage of new law.
An apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry disposed of the petition challenging proposed dissolution of HEC.
Attoney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq appeared before the court and told that the government was not going to dissolve the HEC rather it was working to form a new commission in collaboration with the HEC representatives and vice chancellors of universities.
The CJ asked AG if he wanted to say HEC was not going to be dissolved. The AG responded that any decision in this regard would be taken according to law.
