Karachi: A central leader of a banned outfit was shot dead along with his son by unknown persons in New Karachi on late Saturday evening, police said.
The incident took placeĀ within the limits of Ajmaer Nagri police station when unidentified assailants opened fire on the vehicle of Molana Mohammad Ahmed Madni, a leader of banned Sipae Sahaba Pakistan.
Molana Madni and his son received several bullet injuries and died on the spot. Madni was the founder of Jamia Mohammidia in Bufferzone.
The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.
Madni was the step-brother ofĀ Molana Azam Tariq, central leader of the same party who was shot dead in Islamabad.
Panic gripped the city soon after the incident and business activities were closed in various parts of Karachi including Orangi, Korangi and New Karachi.
Leader of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Ahmed Ludhianwi condemned the killings and said police and rangers have totally failed to protect the lives of people.Ā He said law enforcement agencies are not fulfilling their responsibilities.
