New Delh: India’s defence budget for 2011-12 has been hiked to $34 billion on Monday.This will mark an over four percent increase from the 2010-11 allocation of Rs.147,344 crore.
Mukherjee also told the Lok Sabha, lower house of the parliament, while presenting the annual budget that the capital expenditure for defence in 2011-12 would be scaled up to Rs.69,199 crore, up from the Rs.60,000 crore in 2010-11.
He said any further requirement for defence of the country would be met.
