Lahore: Embezzlement of billions of rupees in the reconstruction of police stations in Lahore has been revealed on Saturday.
Sources said that Anti-corruption Unit Director General Kazim Ali Malik has taken notice of the matter and formed a probe committee to investigate the scam.
The sources said that an inquiry report of the anti-corruption stated that Rs 800,000 were embezzled only in the reconstruction of Qila Gujar Singh police station.
They added some elements misappropriated the funds allocated for the reconstruction of dilapidated buildings of 107 police station in the provincial capital.
Kazim Malik said that a probe committee headed by Special Investigation Unit of Anti Corruption would investigate the matter, adding that unscrupulous elements involved in corruption would be brought to the book.
