LONDON: Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand will see out the rest of the season on loan to Aston Villa, his manager Jose Mourinho revealed on Friday.
“Ryan is to go on loan for the rest of the season. We felt and he agrees totally that he needs to play,” the Chelsea manager said.
The 24-year-old has agreed to the switch due to his lack of first-team action at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho also confirmed Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is close to leaving the club.
“This transfer window is more about people leaving than coming. We are happy with our squad,” he said ahead of Manchester United’s visit on Sunday.
