Islamabad:Al Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden, the alleged mastermind behind the 9/11 terror attacksĀ was killed in a US-led operation in Bilal Town area of Abbottabad near Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul, some 150 Kilometer northeast of Islamabad.
Sources said that five aides of Osama, including his son and a woman, were killed while two wives six children and four accomplices were heldĀ in an operation that lasted for 40 minutes. A US official said that Osama received a bullet in the head.
The sources said that four helicopters took part in the operation while one of them was shot down Sunday night. However, it was yet not clear either the chopper belonged to Pakistan or America.
Local sources said that the helicopter was seen on a very low flight. Gun shots and two small blasts were also heard before a massive blast.
It was stated to be the unexpected incident because, according to the local sources, Abbottabad was a mountainous area and helicopters flights areĀ usually not carried out in the night.

Osama Bin Laden, the world’s most wanted men, was killed in Pakistan as the result of a US military operation,Obama announced to the nation Sunday night. The president said Osama was killed in Abottabad area of Pakistan a north province Khyber Pukhtunkha.
On my direction a US team carried out the operation in Pakistan’s Abbottabad area and killed Osama Bin Laden and took the custody of his body, Obama said, adding that his demise should be welcomed by all.
To kill or to arrest him was our priority, Obama said.
He said that he had telephoned his Pakistani counterpartĀ Asif Ali Zardari.
Bin Laden, 54, was a member of a wealthy Saudi family and has been on the FBI’s Most Wanted Fugitives List since 1999.He had been the subject of a search since he eluded US soldiers and Afghan militia forces in a large-scale assault on the Tora Bora mountains of Afghanistan in 2001.
Bin Laden broke with Saudi leaders over their beliefs regarding Israel. He was eventually denounced by his family and gave up citizenship.
A large number of Americans thronged the Ground Zero and celebrated the alleged demise of Al Qaeda’s chief, singing God bless America.
However, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has said thatĀ Osama has not been killed. The news of Osama’s death is baseless and he is safe, said the TTP spokesman.
