Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has allotted ‘arrow’ as electoral symbol to Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) to contest in the general polls scheduled to be held on May 11.
A three-member bench of the ECP comprising Justice (retd) Riaz Kayani, Justice (retd) Shahzad Akbar and Justice (retd) Fazlur Rehman heard petitions pertaining to the allotment of ‘arrow’ symbol and registration of the Pakistan People Party.
The ECP rejected the Naheed Khan, the defiant PPP worker and closest friend of slain chairperson Benazir Bhutto, petition and allotted the arrow symbol to the PPPP.
The ECP also reserved its verdict of the registration of the PPP.
Soon after the allotment, the supporters of Naheed Khan and PPPP indulged in a fight and tore apart the posters of each other.
Ms Khan’s supporters also shouted slogans against the ECP’s decision.
