New York: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar Thursday said that the increased resentment of Pakistani people towards United States were due to the illegal drone strikes.
Talking to media in New York during the UN General Assembly meeting, Khar said that Pakistan support aim of the drone strikes but it was against the method.
“US drone strikes within Pakistan are illegal,” she asserted adding that the US should exercise legal actions to target militants.
It is to be mentioned here that that Pakistan has always raised questions about the legitimacy of the drone strikes with their territory. The country’s parliament has twice passed resolutions against the strikes.
On the other hand, senior al-Qaeda figures including Abu Yahya al-Libi, second in command of terror network after Ayman a—Zawahiri, were targeted in the tribal areas of Pakistan, providing US legitimacy to target more high profile figures in the area.
