Hajj 2024: Death Toll Exceeds 1,300 Due to Extreme Heat

Riyadh: The number of deaths due to extreme heat during Hajj has exceeded 1,300.

According to Saudi authorities, 83% of those who died were unregistered pilgrims who were not on Hajj visas but rather on tourist or visit visas.

Saudi media reports that 95 pilgrims, who arrived without proper permission, are still receiving treatment in hospitals.

Among the deceased, 672 were from Egypt, 236 from Indonesia, 100 from Jordan, 98 from India, over 35 from Pakistan, 31 from Iran, and 3 from Senegal.

Saudi media also reported that the temperature at the Grand Mosque in Mecca reached 51.8 degrees Celsius.
