Islamabad: The Indian Prime Minister has congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on assuming the position of Prime Minister.
On Tuesday Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended congratulations to Shehbaz Sharif on the social media platform X (Previously Twitter), for becoming the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan.
In a tweet, PM Modi expressed his felicitations, stating, “Congratulations to @CMShehbaz on being sworn in as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.”

Previously, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as well as the presidents of Iran and China, also congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on being elected Prime Minister.
It is worth noting that Shehbaz Sharif, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party and brother of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, took oath as the 24th Prime Minister of Pakistan yesterday with 201 votes, marking his second term as Prime Minister.
Additionally, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, a loyalist of the PML-N, was nominated for the role of speaker of the national assembly.
His appointment follows a coalition agreement between the PML-N and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). As part of the coalition pact between the PML-N and PPP, Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of Nawaz Sharif, assumed the office of Chief Minister of Punjab province on February 26.
Meanwhile, PPP’s senior leader, former President Asif Ali Zardari, is set to assume the presidency, as per the agreement.
In the February 8 elections, the PML-N secured the second position, while independent candidates backed by imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged with the highest number of seats but failed to secure a parliamentary majority.
