Israel Continues Barbaric Attacks in Gaza, 118 More Palestinians Martyred, 163 Injured

Gaza: Israel continues its attacks on residential areas and hospitals in Gaza, with relentless Zionist bombardment resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds more Palestinians as the U.S. vetoed yet another UN resolution seeking a ceasefire in Gaza

The saga of Israeli atrocities in Gaza continues to unfold, with Nasser Hospital becoming completely inactive, leading to the transfer of 8 patients. A representative from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) characterized the conditions within Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis as “appalling,” turning what was once a sanctuary for healing into “a place of death.”

Jonathan Whittall, a senior humanitarian affairs officer with OCHA, conveyed this sentiment during a joint mission with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Palestine Red Crescent to evacuate critically ill patients who have been trapped inside for weeks due to ongoing Israeli bombardments.

“There are 150 patients in one of these buildings. They have no food and water, no electricity. There’s very few doctors and nurses that are remaining inside this hospital. The conditions are appalling,” Whittall said in a video posted on social media.

Over the past 24 hours, the relentless Israeli attacks on residential areas and hospitals in Gaza have claimed the lives of 118 Palestinians and injured 163 others.

The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has surged to 29,313, with 69,333 individuals wounded, since October 7.

Amidst the ongoing turmoil in Gaza, the United Nations Security Council convened in a critical emergency session, seeking to address the escalating humanitarian crisis and the urgent need for a ceasefire. However, hopes for immediate action were dashed as the United States once again exercised its veto power, derailing a resolution put forth by Algeria that demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities.

China’s Ambassador, Zhang Jun, criticized the US veto, stating that it sends the wrong message and exacerbates the crisis in Gaza. Similarly, Russia’s Ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, accused the US of providing Israel with a “license to kill” and called for urgent action to address the deteriorating situation.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening, as international aid agencies have halted food supplies to Palestinians facing hunger in northern Gaza. These actions come at a time when reports of children dying of hunger in northern Gaza are being reported by United Nations agencies, while Israel has completely blocked relief items to the region.

Gaza’s Government Media Office said in a statement that halting aid from the World Food Programme to northern Gaza would be tantamount to condemning 750,000 individuals to death.
