Israeli Attacks on Gaza Intensify with the Start of New Year

Gaza: As the new year, 2024, begins, Israel has intensified its attacks on Gaza, while, on the occasion of the new year in response to relentless Israeli attacks, Hamas also fired 20 rockets towards Israel.

According to media reports, Israeli fighter jets targeted areas in central Gaza, including Al-Maghazi and Al-Bureij refugee camps, where ten individuals from a single house were martyred. Israel also carried out bombings in the Al-Mughraqa village near Gaza City, resulting in six casualties, and conducted an aerial attack on a house in Khan Yunis, causing one person to lose their life. Additionally, Israeli forces shelled the Zeitoun district in eastern Gaza during the night, leading to multiple Palestinian martyrs and injuries.

According to media reports, Israeli forces dropped a drone on a house in the Al-Maghazi camp in central Gaza, causing injuries to several civilians, including children. Israel also targeted the Nuseirat refugee camp, resulting in injuring several Palestinians.

As per media reports Israeli forces carried out raids in various western coastal areas during the night, where forces engaged in operations in several areas, including Nablus city and the Jenin camp. On the other hand, in response, the Hamas resistance movement launched 20 rockets towards various Israeli-occupied areas, initiating the sounding of sirens in multiple regions.

According to Israeli media, there were no casualties in the rocket attacks on central and western Israeli-occupied areas. Israeli media claims that Hamas has accepted responsibility for these attacks.

On the other side, at the beginning of the new year, Palestinians in Ramallah protested, remembering those who were martyred in Israeli aggression.

Palestinian citizens prepared a large banner in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, featuring images of thousands of Palestinians martyred in Gaza. The United States, Israel’s ally, is urging to reduce the intensity of the war in Gaza. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that the war is at its peak and will continue for months.  He further stated that Israel will once again need to manage control of the Gaza border with Egypt.

It is worth noting that Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smortrich has called for the ethnic cleansing of 2 million Palestinians living in Gaza, stating Palestinians should be forced out of Gaza, making way for Israelis.

It should be noted that since October 7, Israeli aggression has continued, resulting in the death of nearly 22,000 Palestinians,  including 9,100 children and around 6,500 women, and 57,000 individuals severely injured due to relentless bombing by the Zionist Israeli forces.

Furthermore, 70% infrastructure in Gaza has been destroyed in Israeli attacks and over 1.8 million people from the Gaza Strip have been displaced out of its total population of 2.3 million.

Among those martyred in Israeli bombings, there are 311 members of medical staff and 105 journalists. Additionally, 40 personnel from the Civil Defense have also lost their lives.
