Sharjah Cancels New Year Celebrations in Solidarity with the People of Palestine

Abu Dhabi: The Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates has canceled New Year celebrations to express solidarity with the people of Palestine.

According to international news agencies, an official announcement has been made at the governmental level in Sharjah that all festivities and fireworks programs related to the New Year have been canceled to express solidarity with Palestinian brothers.

Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and the Chairperson of Sharjah’s Ruling Family and Women’s Sports Council announced on her social media platform X (previously Twitter), that all New Year celebrations in solidarity with the people of Palestine have been canceled.

Furthermore, the Sharjah Police also issued a statement, declaring a restriction on all kinds of fireworks events during the New Year’s occasion to express solidarity with the brothers in Gaza.

It is noteworthy that since the start of Israeli aggression against Gaza on October 7, the number of Palestinian martyrs has reached over 22,300. More than 54,918 people have been injured, including over 8,500 children and more than 6,300 women. Furthermore, around 1.8 million people from the Gaza Strip have been displaced out of its total population of 2.3 million.

Among those martyred in Israeli bombings, there are 311 members of medical staff and 103 journalists. Additionally, 40 personnel from the Civil Defense have also lost their lives.
