Disagreement with Quaid-e-Azam’s Opinion on the Issue of Palestine is not `Kufr’: Anwar ul Haq Kakar

Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar stated that differing from the opinion expressed by the founder of the nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on the matter of Palestine is not tantamount to ‘Kufr’ (disbelief).

In an interview, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar mentioned that the ‘two-state solution’ is the only viable resolution to the issue of Palestine. He clarified that he has not proposed any two-state solution for Palestine, and the world is offering this two-state solution for Palestine, not Pakistan or himself. He emphasized that the two-state solution for Palestine has not been presented by us but by the international community.

Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said that the whole world is talking about a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue, if anyone has a one-state solution, he should present his proposal.

Answering a question regarding the opinion of the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah regarding Israel, the Caretaker Prime Minister said that if Pakistan’s parliament, all political parties, and intelligence agencies arrive at a conclusion different from the opinion of Quaid-e-Azam, it will not be equivalent to Kufr (disbelief). However, the decision can be debated, he added.

Reacting to this policy, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed of the Jamaat-e-Islami, responding to the statements of the caretaker Prime Minister, stated that it is not only the position of the founder of the nation but also that of Allama Iqbal, which was in line with justice, fairness, and international laws.

Senator Mushtaq further commented that it is wrong to say that the entire world is asserting this. Different opinions exist worldwide. He emphasized that only the Western bloc, under American leadership, wants to sweep its crimes against the Palestinians under the rug by falsely promoting the idea of a two-state solution.

He also expressed that changing the position of the founder of the nation Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal is not within the authority of any caretaker Prime Minister. The parliament has not debated this issue, and no elected government has endorsed this. In a situation where genocide and crimes against humanity are ongoing, advocating for a two-state solution is like putting salt on the wounds.

It is worth noting that Israel itself has always rejected the two-nation solution as it aims to continue its project of settler colonialism. Regarding the rejection of the two-state solution, Israeli Ambassador to Britain, Tzipi Hotovely, openly and in unequivocal terms stated that Israel would not accept the two-state solution in any way, even after the cessation of hostilities in Gaza. She asserted that Israel completely rejects it.
