Tallahassee: The U.S. state of Florida has imposed a ban on student groups supporting Palestine.
According to international news sources, the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, acting on alleged biases and anti-Muslim sentiments, has imposed restrictions on student groups advocating for the Palestinian cause.
The Florida Governor has jointly worked with the state university system to issue orders to educational institutions to disband student organizations that support Palestinian causes. It is noteworthy that these student groups have expressed support for the Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation.
The state university system while ignoring the continuous Israeli attacks on Gaza that have resulted in over 6,000 casualties and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, has denounced Student groups that support Palestine.
The Governor of Florida claimed that groups like Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) are supporters of terrorist organizations, which is a serious and misleading allegation. As per the Governor’s directions, these groups will be disbanded through crackdowns during protests organized in educational institutions across the state.
