Ex-CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry calls for electing new PM

ISLAMABAD: Former Chief Justice and head of Justice and Democratic Party Iftikhar Chaudhry called for electing new prime minister as the incumbent premier would undergo an open heart surgery in London.

Talking to media here, the ex-CJ a said that there is no room of deputy prime minister in the constitution.

He said if the charge of prime minister is granted to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, it would be an unconstitutional step. “If any such notification is issued, it would completely be against the constitution,” he added.

Iftikhar Chaudhry, while praying for speedy recovery of the prime minister said “In order to avoid constitutional crisis, there is a need to elect new prime minister in the absence of Nawaz Sharif.”
