Six real life facts about Peshwa Bajirao

Nobody even in India knew much about Peshwa Bajirao before Sunjay Leela Bhansali’s block buster film, Bajiro Mastani. Here are a few facts regarding this Indian militant hero,

Peshwa Bajirao is considered as the hero of Hinduism and was a great devotee of Shiva but he never levied ban on the practice of Islam.

He was twelve years old when he set foot in the battlefield for the first time. His father, first Peshwa took him to the battlefield.

Peshwa’s mother, Radhabai was the matriarch. She was a strict administrator and excelled at writing. She was proud of Bajirao and his brother, Chimaji Appa. She said, ‘My Rau is so deeply revered in this Hindustan that no one would ever dare to harm me.’  ‘My Rau is so deeply revered in this Hindustan that no one would ever dare to harm me.’

Bajirao hailed 20 years of military course and fought 35 enemies. He never met defeat and always took victory to home.

His strategy in Battle of Palkhed got acknowledged by whole world. His victory was called a ‘masterpiece of strategic mobility’ by senior British General Bernard Montgomery.

He was leading 100,000 troops when he passed away of a sudden fever at his camp. His cremation took place on April 28, 1740, at Raverkhedi, a small town located on the banks of the river Narmada near Indore, Madhya Pradesh. During his last days, his first wife Kashibai, his second wife Mastani, and his mother Radhabai were around him.
