ISLAMABAD – Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejects Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of National Assembly (MNA), Asad Umer petition to stop the local government elections in Islamabad.
The two member bench consisted of Justice Noor-ul-Haq and Justice Amir Farooq announced the verdict against holding of local government elections in Islamabad capital territory.
The IHC rejected the petition submitted against the non-party bases local government elections in Islamabad. The bench members claimed that the decision was being taken by Supreme Court of Pakistan.
High court could not interfere in the matter because was currently under hearing the Supreme Court, added the IHC judges.
PTI Lawyer, Shoaib Shaheen, said that he would consult supreme court in this regard, adding that the IHC despite to keep the merit preferred the Supreme court order of holding the elections in Islamabad.
