Eight more death warrants of terrorists issued in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Death warrants of eight convicts involved in different terrorism cases have been issued after rejection of mercy appeals by President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain, local media reported on Friday.

Pakistan has issued eight more death warrants of terrorists when President Mamnoon Hussain rejected their mercy appeals, Interior Ministry sources said.

Some reports claimed that two terrorists who were sentenced to death including Ataullah alias Qasim and Mohammad Azam were amongst the eight persons.

Ataullah alias Qasim and M Azam will be executed in Sukkur Jail on December 23 (Tuesday), reports said.

Implementation of death penalties would be made in different jails of the country including Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore, Faisalabad Jail, Bahawalpur Jail, Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.

At least 14 mercy appeals were reportedly pending in President House which were sent to President Mamnoon Hussain.

Pakistan started implementation of death penalties on Friday (today) by executing two terrorists, Dr Usman and Arshad Meherban, in Faisalabad district jail.

Death penalty was imposed on Aqeel alias Dr Usman who was involved in an 2009’s attack on Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

Another convict, Arshad Meherban who attacked on former military president Pervez Musharraf, also executed during first phase of death penalties started in Pakistan.
