ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has raised electricity tariff by imposing equalisation (EQ) surcharge, the notification issued by the Ministry of Water and Power.
The govt has imposed 30 paisa per unit surcharge and it will add an additional Rs 4 billion per month to government collection from electricity consumers. The equalization surcharge will be applicable on all power consumers except of K-Electric.
The EQ surcharge has been imposed in the wake of payments’ interruption. The imposition of EQ surcharge is one of the conditionalities of International Monetary Fund (IMF).
