LG likely to follow the footstep of Samsung by launching LG G3 Prime

WASHINGTON: As Samsung eyeing to launch prime version of its flagship device Galaxy S5, new report recons that LG is working on the similar kind of device.

According to reports, the South Korean company is eyeing to follow the footstep of Samsung by launching the Prime version of the LG G3.

The expert recons, the device could appear as early as September. The LG G3 is already a powerhouse on its own, boasting an amazing Quad HD display with a whopping resolution, as well as top-of-the-line specs and features all around.

It seems to be a trend now for rumors regarding “Prime” variants of new flagships. Samsung was/is rumored to launch a Galaxy S5 Prime model with a metal build and upgraded specs, a HTC One M8 Prime has also been speculated, and now it seems that an LG G3 Prime is still expected.

LG has already announced an updated version of its original LG G3 powerhouse, unveiling the new LG G3 Cat 6 in South Korea. The international version of that upgraded handset will reportedly launch as the LG G3 Prime and may arrive as soon as September, according to a new report from Geeky Gadgets.

“According to one of our sources, the LG G3 Prime will launch in the UK in later September, the handset is expected to be made official at IFA 2014 in September,” reveals the report.

According to the publication, this purported LG G3 Prime will sport similar specifications to the recently-announced LG G3 Cat 6, including an upgraded quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM.

The upgraded LG G3 Prime is expected to come with the same 5.5-inch QHD display as the original model, boasting a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The new model will also retain the same camera setup of the initial LG G3, i.e. a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera.

On the software side, the LG G3 Prime will reportedly run Android 4.4 KitKat, most likely the latest version. It remains unclear at this point, however, whether the upgraded device will sport the same design and build materials as the existing model.

It’s worth pointing out that none of this is officially confirmed, which means that this report remains in the rumor state for now. If LG does indeed plan to release an upgraded LG G3 Prime in September, more details should come to light soon. We’ll keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned. In the meantime, take everything with a grain of salt.
