ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Saturday claimed that Geo Television is a tax,PEMRA defaulter while its owner Mir Shakeel is a blackmailer.
Imran Khan claimed that Geo is getting funds from India and US for agenda setting in Pakistan which no sovereign country would allow.
Talking to media after his party’s core committee meeting, the cricketer turned politician said that he has brought proofs before the nation against Geo and its owner Mir Shakeel adding that Mir Shakeel is using the media group for his personal agenda.
PTI chief also took Pakistan’s ruling party Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) to task by saying that Geo and PML-N’s interests are inter-linked; Najam Sethi was made the PCB Chief to have rights of cricket series.
The nexus of PML-N and Geo was further exposed after PEMRA chief was fired by government on Geo/Jang group owner Mir Shakeelur Rehman’s desire.
Under the rules, PEMRA can allow license of only four channels, but Geo was seeking 5th license, he stated.
PTI demands that Geo group should tender a public apology for running a campaign against Imran Khan,” he added.
