KARACHI: Pakistan’s chief of Army staff General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday assured full support for democratic and civilian forces in the country here in a high level meeting at Karachi.
Gen. Raheel Sharif said that forces will fully cooperate with provincial and federal government and he has clearly expressed his wish to move forward for peace adding that army does not want to interfere in politics.
About the Karachi situation, he said that if the government would call armed forces to help it overcome Karachi violence, we will cooperate.
Army chief claimed that he has issued directives for bringing the situation of country’s largest metropolis under control.
He was Speaking in Sindh’s capital -city at a high level meeting to discuss on going Karachi operatiobn chaired by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari, ISI chief Zaheer-ul-Islam and other dignitaries.
It must be remembered that in an earlier meeting, LEAs conducting Karachi operation told PM that there is no need of an army operation in Karachi.
