KARACHI: Karachi operation can bring peace to the city if political parties stop backing criminals, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was told in a briefing by Law Enforcement agencies carrying out Karachi operation.
The LEAs claimed that political parties have started protesting and raising voice for criminal elements which can prove detrimental to smooth flow of Karachi operation.
Mian Nawaz Sharif was told that the operation to wipe out criminals and law and order threatening elements does not require the services of armed forces of Pakistan.
PM Nawaz who is currently visiting Karachi will also meet Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) representatives.
Prior to the meeting, Sharif also held separate meetings with Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
Earlier on his arrival at the Karachi International Airport the prime minister was received by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and a large number of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supporters and the party’s local office bearers.
