ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that the Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) has helped raise awareness about nuclear security.
Pakistan FO spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said the summit endorsed Pakistan’s credentials as a responsible nuclear state.
She said the summit provided an opportunity to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to highlight the steps taken by Pakistan to ensure full safety and security of its nuclear facilities and materials. There was wide acknowledgment of safety and security of Pakistan’s nuclear programme and its safeguards.
The spokesperson said this should put to rest unsubstantiated reports cited earlier by certain quarters in Europe about Pakistan’s alleged nuclear export to a third country.
She said Pakistan will continue its constructive engagement with the NSS Process.
To a question, the spokesperson said Pakistan desires to build a positive and mutually beneficial bilateral relationship with Afghanistan.
